March 4, 2026 — Day 4

YELLOW → GREEN

The regime flipped after the bell — but the system didn't fire. A gap worth closing.

REGIME: YELLOW at scan time — 3/6 bullish signals at 9:22 AM. SPY gapping down -0.44%, breadth at 0%. Flipped to GREEN (6/6 bullish) at 9:31 AM as SPY reversed to +0.31%.

What Happened

The scanner found 5 candidates at 9:22 AM — a solid lineup with 3 catalyzed names (SOFI, IBIT, PANW) and 2 suspicious (GLL, BITB). But the regime read YELLOW: SPY was gapping down, breadth was flat, and only half the signals were bullish.

Then the market reversed. By 9:31 — one minute after the bell — SPY was up, breadth surged to 100%, and the regime flipped to full GREEN (6/6 bullish). The 10:00 AM recheck confirmed GREEN again.

But no trades were executed. The --late-entry flag should wait until 10:00 AM for a GREEN upgrade on YELLOW days — the regime was GREEN at 10:00. This is a gap in the automation pipeline that needs investigation.

The Picks We Didn't Trade

TickerGap%RVOLCatalystX Sentiment
GLL+9.62%0.83xSUSPICIOUSNEUTRAL
IBIT+3.57%0.70xTrump pro-crypto agenda + bullish BTC predictionBULLISH
SOFI+4.65%0.51xMastercard stablecoin partnership + CEO $1M purchaseBULLISH
BITB+3.12%0.44xSUSPICIOUSBULLISH
PANW+4.00%0.34xWells Fargo Overweight initiation, $200 PTBULLISH

Notable: IBIT and BITB are both crypto ETFs — theme dedup should have flagged this. GLL is a leveraged inverse gold ETF (ProShares UltraShort Gold) — the leveraged ETF filter should exclude it. SOFI had the strongest catalyst: a real partnership announcement plus insider buying ($1M CEO purchase).

Shadow Tracker — 9:45 AM Checkpoint

Fifteen minutes after the bell, the shadow results were decidedly negative:

TickerEntryPrice @ 9:45Chg%Shadow P/L
GLL$17.55$17.00-3.13%-$312.95
IBIT$40.61$40.53-0.20%-$19.68
SOFI$19.26$18.82-2.28%-$228.36
BITB$38.73$38.81+0.22%+$21.93
PANW$156.14$155.85-0.19%-$18.56
Total -$557.62

Later checkpoints (14:00, 15:20) will update with full-day results.

Observations

  • YELLOW → GREEN transitions are real: The market genuinely recovered. This wasn't noise — SPY flipped from -0.44% to +0.31% in under 10 minutes.
  • Early shadow is misleading: At 9:45 AM, 4/5 picks were red. But gap stocks often dip in the first 15 minutes before recovering. The 15:20 shadow will tell the real story.
  • Scanner quality concerns: GLL (leveraged ETF) and BITB (duplicate crypto theme with IBIT) probably shouldn't have made the list. That's 2 of 5 questionable picks.
  • Late-entry pipeline gap: The system saw YELLOW at 9:26, the regime flipped GREEN at 9:31, it confirmed GREEN at 10:00 — but nothing executed. This needs a fix.

Algorithm Suggestions

  1. Investigate late-entry execution gap — the --late-entry flag should have triggered orders at 10:00 AM when the regime confirmed GREEN. Verify the process was still running.
  2. Verify GLL is filtered — leveraged ETFs (including inverse leveraged like GLL) should be caught by the leveraged ETF exclusion list in scanner.py.
  3. Theme dedup: IBIT + BITB — both are Bitcoin ETFs. The crypto theme group should prevent both from appearing in the same pick set.

Discipline

No trades, no damage. Account holds at $100,989. Three consecutive sit-out days (YELLOW, RED, YELLOW) — the system is doing its job by keeping us out of uncertain conditions. When the market gives a clear GREEN signal from the start, we'll be ready.
